Today I have the privilege and honor to be guest posting on my father in-law, Ernie Wenk’s blog Writing: An Adventure in Words. Below is a preview of the post but you will need to head over to his site to read the entire post.

I have been consistently publishing posts on my site since 2010. This has allowed me to develop an efficient process to writing a blog post. It’s important to know everyone’s writing style and writing process is different. However, we can learn and adapt foundational writing principles, techniques, and tips into our writing so we can become better and more effective writers. My hope is you become a better writer and gain new insights by reading the below 6 steps I take in writing a blog post…

To read the entire post click here. I also encourage you to email to his subscriber list and start reading his blog.

After typing out my comment on Ernie’s site, i realized i couldn’t post it..for some reason couldn’t find the ‘post’ button. so pasted it here :)

    Wonderful breakdown!
I’ve discovered one way to find things to write about is to stay curious about life. By nature, am more inclined to be a “know-it-all” (sad, I know!). But am learning that curiosity can lead me to deep places.
My process is almost similar to yours.
-Capture thoughts and ideas of Evernote, notepads, post it notes, and lately Catch
    -Outline & research
-Do first draft – unfortunately I often try to come up with a final draft at this point. it can take hours!
    -Edit edit edit
    - Paste to wordpress (I write from evernote) and read aloud, edit, add photo
    -Schedule
PS. you have an editor, wow :

      Ngina,

I had the same problem when replying to some of the comments. I just refreshed the browser and it showed up. If you want to try again that would be great. Or I can leave a reply here:

Being curious about life is so important on so many level’s. I think it’s important when it comes to moving outside of our comfort zone and routine of life. I think most adults have to make it a point to be intentional about being curious, Kids are perfect examples of curiosity.

My editor is my wife or mom who are both very good at grammar and sentence structure. It also gives me an outside perspective on my writing. Both of those areas are not strengths of mine (at least yet).
