Question: What are your favorite communication quotes?

Please note: I reserve the right to delete comments that are offensive or off-topic.

  • Great quotes, Dan! I love the quotes in Proverbs about how a wise man holds his tongue, but a fool blabbers on. Definitely have helped me from looking like a fool!

    • That’s a good one Jason. It as saved me as well. Thank you for sharing.

  • Several good ones here Dan. I liked Twain’s, Godin’s, and Reagan’s. One I like is Abe’s: “It is better to keep your mouth shut and thought a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt.”

    • Great addition Bill. I really like it. Thank you for reading and sharing.

  • I like Godin’s the best: “The less people know, the more they yell.” :) It does seem to be true.

    • I agree, I know some people who like to yell a lot:) Thanks for sharing.

  • I like this one Dan “The basic building block of good communications is the feeling that every human being is unique and of value.” ~ Unknown

I am constantly learning good communication is not about me but about others.

    Great quotes!

    • So true, have you read John Maxwell’s book Everyone Communicates Few Connect? It might be worth putting on your book list. It’s a good one for leaders and people who are married.

      • I have not read it.. But I have noted it down on my to-read list. Thank you so much.

        • I think you will really like the book.

  • floyd

I don’t know who said it, but I like it, “Say what you mean and mean what you say.” Simple but profound…

  • These are all great! There is one that I also love – but have no idea who originally said it… “God gave you 2 ears and 1 mouth..listen twice as much as you talk.”

    • Glad you enjoyed them. Great addition. Thank you for stopping by and reading.

  • The John Kotter Quote, “Simple and clear…” I like to keep things simple, but I tend to make things complicated!

    • It’s a good one. Keep working at it and soon you will be an expert at keeping it simple. I know it’s something I need to work on as well. Thank you for stopping by and reading.

  • I love the Seth Godin quote – I’ve found that one to be so true! I also like the Ronald Reagan quote because it puts the emphasis on what is being communicated and not just how slick and eloquent the communicator is.

    • I’m glad you enjoyed them. Both the Godin and Reagan quotes are great.

  • You never cease to amaze me Dan. Jim Rohn is my All-Time favorite speaker and Author. I soak up everything that he said and has. He has impacted my life tremendously. This quote is a all-time fav of mine.

“If you just communicate you can get by. But if you skillfully communicate, you can work miracles.” ~Jim Rohn

    • I also really like Jim Rohn. He is a legend. I like the quote you shared.
