Dan Black has spent his career of over 15 years working in the social services field, specifically with youth and young adults. He has served in leadership position in his field and in community volunteer work. Dan has an Associates degree in Theology and a Bachelors degree in Human Development.

When I was 19 years old a friend and myself where driving from Portland Oregon to Seattle Washington. While on the 3 hour trip my friend played a John C. Maxwell leadership lesson. Listening to the leadership lesson sparked my interest and passion for the topic of leadership. Since that time I have read countless books, attended conferences and availed myself to many different blogs to learn all I can about leadership. My personal growth has allowed me to move into different leadership roles. I have a passion to help others reach their maximum level of influence.

Dan Black has published two books, The Leadership Mandate and The Little Book of Personal Growth.

  1. Hey Dan, love reading your blog bro! I’m a lifelong student of leadership as well. I would love to hear more about your work with young adults, both through church and your rehab efforts.

    • Thank you Joshua. I enjoy reading your blog as well. We should try and talk over the phone some time soon(Let’s try for next week). What’s your email address?

  2. You found my blog – I’ve now found yours :)

In the words of Ahnold, “I’ll be back.”

In my words – and I’m adding your blog to the blogroll as well – great stuff to be found here!

      • It *does* seem we have a wee bit in common now, doesn’t it? My degree work was as an alcohol/drug rehab counselor, but that only came after (a) changing majors because (b) I walked into the rooms 31 years ago and said “Hi – my name is Rick, and I’m…”

It was from that set of doors that I was brought into the awareness that Christ had been looking for me; funny how so many believers get that wrong :)

  3. Hey Dan. Just thought I would stop by your blog and say hello! You have been to mine. Great site. I enjoy anything I can read on Leadership. I own an Insurance agency and love working with people. Also, teach an adult Bible Fellowship class. Are you still working in Alcohol & Drug rehab?

  4. I just found your site and had to know more about you. I should have known you were a John Maxwell fan. Your experience in leadership through family ministries gives you a great platform to point the way to others. Thank you for sharing your insight. I’m hungry for more knowledge on the topic and plan on visiting your site often!
