Welcome to Dan Black on Leadership. My desire is to help others become better people and leaders through my writing and resources. My goal is to write content that helps you reach your leadership potential. I typically post 3-5 times a week on the topic of leadership, personal development, strengths, and success. Below are some of my most popular posts.
- 5 Essential Characteristics of Leading
- Having a Strong Leadership Core
- How to Avoid Leadership Burnout
My professional experience has been working with youth and young adults. I have been a drug and alcohol rehab Case Manager and also a Behavior Specialist for foster kids. I have an Associate’s degree in Theology and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development.
My personal experience has been as a volunteer youth leader for over 5 years and I currently serve at the young adults group at the church I attend. During this time I have lead ministry groups, delivered speeches, mentored, lead teams of volunteers, and counseled youth.
When I was 19 years old a friend and myself where driving from Portland Oregon to Seattle Washington. While on the 3 hour trip my friend played a John C. Maxwell leadership lesson. Listening to the leadership lesson sparked my interest and passion for the topic of leadership. Since that time I have read countless books, attended conferences and availed myself to many different blogs to learn all I can about leadership. My personal growth has allowed me to move into different leadership roles within my church and career.
Since then I have moved to San Diego California with my wife to be closer to family. While living in San Diego we had our first child (A boy). We also joined a local church and I still have a passion to write and learn about leadership.
